Pay per click ads are a great way to reach a lot of your audience and to test out your sales to see if those ads are actually turning sales leads into clients.
Ads are a great option if you are able to afford several months of testing to make sure you are generating as many clients as possible. Here are some factors to consider and test out in your ads:
Who are you targeting? Make sure these are the right people to target based upon gender, income, Business-to-Business (B2B) or Business-to-Client (B2C) clients, marital status, occupation, interests, activities, etc.
Design of the ad (shade of colors, images, text font, how the ad is displayed, etc.)
Is a sales offer appropriate? What are you asking your visitor to do? Is it clear and compelling enough to show how your offer solves their problem and helps them achieve their goals?
What keywords do you want to appear for? The key here is to think from the point of view of your potential customer and about what your prospect is typing into that search box. A good rule of thumb is to target low competition keywords with high search volume.
For example, if a pet store in New York City wants to get ranked number one on Google search results, the obvious keywords they would put into their website blogs are probably “best pet store in New York City.” These keywords have high search volume, but there’s probably high competition for these keywords because every pet store owner in NYC wants to be on page one of Google’s search results for this keyword.
A better approach is to write content with keywords that resonate with a very specialized demographic so that you attract high search volume from this population, but it is in low competition because it only speaks to a very specific audience. An example of a high search volume, low competition keyword can be “best specialty pet store specializing in organic, gluten-free, allergy-free dog food.”
Depending on how competitive a keyword is, advertising costs may vary widely. Ubersuggest is a free keyword tool to find out which keywords you want to target.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook is currently offering grants to use towards Facebook advertising. Paid advertising is also a great marketing strategy if you have had website visitors that did not buy your products or services right away. You can also install special code on your website (also called pixels) so that you can show additional ads for your website visitors that did not buy your product or services after visiting your website. Sometimes a potential client may not buy right away, but might be ready to buy some time in the future.
